“Parking Lot” by Mineral (Austin, TX 1998)

Mineral was one of the first ‘emo’ bands, back when, as YouTube user lightthiscity11 says, “was a legit and respectable genre.”

After only releasing two albums, The Power of Failing (which, I hold, is one of the best of the decade) and EndSerenading, the band unfortunately called an end to their career.

Now, almost all the credit for the genre goes to Sunny Day Real Estate — which is a great band — but Mineral gets none. Their music is filled to the brim with raw emotion that is expressed through every vocal and instrumental in a sort-of musical séance. It’s amazing.

So, for this week’s Concert Video, check out the band play “Parking Lot” off of The Power of Failing back in 1998 at Emo’s in Austin, Texas. Enjoy it, please.
