I always love it when bands decide to make holiday albums — in my opinion, regardless of the holiday they choose to record about, it shows a certain amount of unpretentiousness that I respect. So it’s nice to know the tradition isn’t going out of style.
Like She & Him (who’s Christmas album we reviewed yesterday), My Morning Jacket have released some holiday-themed music, but in the form of an EP.
As Pitchfork points out, the band has just released My Morning Jacket: iTunes Session, which contains a bunch of Christmas songs, a reworking of a song(“Wonderful (The Way I Feel)”) off Circuital, and a new song called “Welcome Home”. The Head and the Heart also contribute guest vocals on a few tracks.
So check out the tracklisting below, as well as a performance of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” from 2010.
