Die Antwoord is probably the most original, and strangest, band to come out this year.
While everyone (including me) was fixated on the “Enter the Ninja,” “Zef Side,” and “Evil Boy” videos (which I’ll include below, just for good measure) Ninja, Yo-Landi Vi$$er and DJ Hi-Tek were also busy creating a bunch of new solid jams to but on their debut album, $O$, that are easily forgotten amidst the strangeness.
Well, that’s not to say this isn’t strange — I mean it is called “Jou Ma Se Poes In’N FishPaste Jar” — but it’s pretty sick just in general hip-hop terms.
The beat is sick, the rapping is tight, and Vi$$er’s voice is still in the Pikachu range, which is awesome.
Regardless, me rambling about it isn’t going to make it better — it’s just one of those things you need to hear (and see) for yourself. Check it out above.
