G. Love has always carried a pretty interesting sound — somewhere between surfer rock and hip-hop — and because of this, he’s developed quite the fan base.
G. Love (known legally as Garrett Dunton) was born and raised in Philadelphia, honing his skills there and in Massachusetts, where he played after a year of college. He’s a part of Jack Johnson’s Brushfire Records entourage (along with Donavon Frankenreiter), and has also toured with Dave Matthews.
Subway Sessions caught up with G at 42nd St. / Port Authority station, where he played “Milk and Sugar.”
